If you’ve been in church during the past couple of weeks, we have mentioned an upcoming event that is very important to Saint Matthews: Our Food Pantry’s May 18th “Italian Night Dinner.”
As our bulletin notice reads:
When we embarked upon creating a new food pantry ministry here at Saint Matthew’s that was directly focused on helping the needy in our community, you never wavered in this God-loving commitment. You donated thousands of dollars in goods, money, and time to make the lives of struggling families just a little bit easier. Whether as a member of the Saint Matthew’s community or as a friend of those in need, you came through in bringing a smile to face of a little child who could have gone to bed hungry. You showed commitment. You showed love. You showed discipleship.
“(Jesus said) A new commandment I give you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Please join us on Saturday evening, May 18th beginning at 6pm for a special Italian Food Night as we give back to you and say “Thank you.” There is no cost. Every ticket is free. This is just our small way of thanking you for showing your faith in Christ and placing your trust in us to help the needy.
All we ask is that you let us know you’re coming.
And from the bottom of our hearts … and from the smiles on the faces of those you blessed … “Thank you.”
This is a very important event because we’re not asking for money or for you to bring items for our pantry. We are just asking you to join us as we give thanks not only to God, but also to you for the incredible support you’ve shown to this blessed ministry. And on a personal note, as your pastor, I ask you to take an hour or two out of your Saturday night on May 18th and join with fellow Christians to celebrate a ministry that has helped families in need.
You can sign up for it on our church’s website or you can sign up beginning this weekend in church.
