One of the hardest parts about changing one’s lifestyle is keeping focused on why one wants to change in the first place. For instance, if you want to lose weight, having a friend “walk the walk” with you is a great way to achieve a lower weight because two of you are doing it together, keeping focused on the greater good. The chances of failure are lessened because while you may want to eat a pint of ice cream, your weight loss partner does not. Thus, focus on your goal is not lost.
Even with my change in lifestyle over the past 8 months from a vegetarian to a low-fat plant-based, whole-foods diet has be challenging since no one else I know ever joined me. And my problem for the first 7 months was simple — I was eating too much bread. Was I losing weight? A little, but not enough. It was only after I spoke with a series of doctors, some of whom pointed me to Dr. Michael Greger’s website, that I was able to focus.
Dr. Michael Greger uploads daily videos dealing with nutrition and how a plant-based diet really can change one’s health for the better.
