Eat Day vs. Kiss Day

by Rev. A. J. Iovine

Chick-fil-A

A couple of days ago, Chick-Fil-A was bombarded with customers as pro-traditional marriage supporters flooded the fast food chain to support their president, Dan Cathy, after he was harassed following his public support for traditional marriage. The chain announced that August 1st was their best sales day ever. Even in Paramus, the lines at the fast food restaurant in Paramus Park Mall were huge.

This all started when Cathy publicly announced something that was already known – he said his food chain supported families and traditional marriage. This should have surprised no one since Chick-Fil-A is known as being pro-Christian. They are even closed on Sundays to allow their employees to go to church. But after his public pronouncement, gay rights activists started protesting. Liberal politicians started threatening the company, where even the mayor of Chicago claimed that Chick-Fil-A values of family and traditional marriage were not the values of the Windy City.

Today, to follow up on Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day, gay rights activists are going to hold a “Kiss In” at Chick-Fil-A restaurants all across the nation. I think that today is a good day for another Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day — traditional marriage supporters should go to the restaurant and buy lunch and dinner for the gay activists. Since they will be taking up valuable space in the restaurant, Christian supporters of the fast food chain should show a little Christian love and buy lunch or dinner for the kissers…and at the same time show continued support for Chick-Fil-A.

But buying lunch or dinner for the kissers shows us to be different. Our Father instructs us to love those who oppose us. What better way is to show the love of Christ than by feeding those who hate us?
