"Teach in Our Sunday School"

by Rev. A. J. Iovine

Yesterday, the pastors of our circuit got together with many of the servants of our churches at a special Volunteer/Servant Luncheon at Zion Lutheran Church in Westwood. It was a lot of fun as people from our churches came together to talk and giggle about all that they do to serve the Lord.

OK. Maybe they didn’t giggle at their service. They giggled at us pastors who put on a fun show, singing, sometimes ‘dancing,’ telling jokes, and acting very normally. Below is one of those normal moments:

Anthony, you should “think it o-o-ver” before putting stuff like this up. It will haunt you when you least expect it. Kudos to you for doing that.

I can see it now … some church considering a call finds the video and laughs uncontrollably. Then they stamp “ONLY IF WE WANT A PASTOR WHO IS WILLING TO EMBARRASS HIMSELF IN FRONT A GYM FULL OF PEOPLE” on my name.

Oh, and our Urban Mission Strategist recorded it on his iPhone and uploaded it to YouTube moments after we were done. He’d make a good DP — he’s willing to join in the fun. Plus now he has evidence just in case any of us step out of line. Imagine, we’d like to vote against something he’d support. He pulls us to the side, slides on his iPhone, and reminds us of Sunday, April 29, 2012. Smiling, he walks away – and all of us vote “Yes!” to whatever he wants. Brilliant!

We were there and it was a wonderful time food, song, jokes, fellowship.
