Holy Week Worship

by Rev. A. J. Iovine

When we were preparing our annual worship calendar back in December 2011, I was going through cancer treatment and I was not sure whether or not my treatments would be concluded in time for Holy Week. Instead, I decided that we would not hold evening worship services on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of Holy Week and instead urge people to attend our Morning Prayer service at 7:15am.

No one really commented on the lack of evening worship services in the early part of Holy Week; instead, I received consistent comments that I should take a break. And I will.

However, we do have worship services Thursday through Sunday:

Holy Thursday (Maundy Thursday) – April 5th at 7pm. Traditional worship service with Holy Communion.

Good Friday Tenebrae worship – April 6th at 7pm. Our tradition worship service focusing on the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Saturday Worship – April 7th at 5pm. This is one of those worship services that includes parts of the traditional Easter Vigil service and our Sunday morning Holy Communion service.

Easter Morning Worship – April 8th at 10am. A day of singing, hearing, receiving, and praise. Following our worship service, stick around for our youth Easter Egg Hunt and a special coffee hour.
